ArenaNet Outlines Extended Interactivity Options In Guild Wars 2

In a new blog post over at ArenaNet, Guild Wars 2 tech director Rick Ellis outlines the various ways players will be able to contibute to the MMO universe even when they are unable to access the game.

Ellis explains that several apps are being developed for iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Android smart phones (which will also be accessible in web-browser form) that will allow players to not only track what their in-game buddies are doing, but also interact with them. Essentially, a system of two-way communication means you'll be able to stalk your guild mates when you should be doing something else, while they will be able to pester you constantly for knowledge (unless you don't want them to.) This "Extended Experience" will use the dedicated applications to display a real-time world map display.

If this all sounds a bit too creepy, don't worry. Ellis notes that "we want to ensure people are always in control of who talks to them and when" and specifically states "we will not be doing anything that allows personal or private information to be shared."
