SEGA has announced a new entry in the Phantasy Star Online series, which will be coming to the PC sometime in 2011.
Phantasy Star is one of those games with a very confusing numbering system. The original Phantasy Star Online was released for the Dreamcast in 2000 (and later ported over to the PC as Phantasy Star Online ver. 2.) Since then, there have been all manner of Phantasy Star Online Episode X/Y type releases.
A trailer shown at the Tokyo Games Show offered a number of feature bullet points for this new sequel, including:
*"Action" and "RPG" re-connected
* User-created story
* Thorough racial balances
* Seasonal changes
* Drastic item synthesis overhaul
* Even wider variety of ways to raise your character
* Additional customizations when you create your character
* New party system
* Consideration of enemy cooperation
* Mutual interaction functionality for new and veteran users
