Halo: Reach Takes $200m On First Day

Microsoft has confirmed that Halo: Reach took an incredible $200 million worldwide after just one day on sale.

Figures also released by UKIE reveal that the game sold an estimated 300,000 units in its first 24 hours on sale in the UK.

The figure already puts the title in the top 10 best-selling UK games of all time.

The combined sales of the Halo franchise in the UK, up until July 2010, stood at 3,674,840 units worth £109,068,532.

UKIE Director General, Michael Rawlinson said, “This is excellent news for the video games and interactive entertainment industry, demonstrating how games sales continue to increase despite difficult economic circumstances. With one in every three people classifying themselves as gamers, and with over half of UK households containing at least one video games console, the UK video games market is in great shape for the future.”

Yesterday, it was revealed that Halo: Reach has already broke records on Xbox Live.
