THQ has confirmed that the next installment of Dawn of War 2 - Retribution - will be the first to make use of Steamworks in favour of Games For Windows Live.
This follows a decision made last month that the PC version of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine (also published by THQ) will use Steamworks instead of the Windows service. These two games join Kane & Lynch 2 and Fallout: New Vegas in the list of titles that have switched away from Games For Windows Live, despite prior releases in the series using it.
THQ has stated it will create a new matchmaking and ranking system, specifically for Dawn of War II: Retribution. However, the publisher has also confirmed that previous Dawn of War titles will not be retroactively made Steam-compatible.
