Codemasters has told IncGamers that F1 2010 will have fully intelligent tracks that will even know how much grip and how much moisture there is on every patch of asphalt.
The game’s producer also revealed that gamers will be rewarded as much for their strategy on the track as their reflexes.
Paul Jeal, Senior Producer at Codemasters Birmingham studio, told IncGamers: “To bring the track alive and show that being an F1 driver is as much about observation and strategy as it is about reflexes and courage, we accurately simulate not only how the track and weather effect the car, but how the car and weather effect the track. Each wheel-sized patch of asphalt knows how wet, how sheltered, how grippy and how dirty it is. The track displays a richly detailed record of the passage of cars and weather on its surface to be read back and exploited by the skilled driver.
“The additional few percent of grip afforded by the accumulation of rubber in a braking zone, or the loss of traction from the built-up rubber lurking just off the racing line, can make all the difference in a sport where just hundredths of a second gained can put you on pole.”
F1 2010 will launch for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on September 24.
