Supermarket giant Tesco is to sell Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game Halo: Reach at a price few will be able to match.
While e-tailer Gametail previously boasted that it undercut its competitors by giving gamers the chance to pre-order the title for the remarkably low sum of £31.95, Britain’s biggest chain has beaten the figure as it plans to release the game for just £28 from Tuesday.
The price was revealed by a consumer advice site after it got hold of Tesco’s plan in the form of an advert designed by the chain.
The price, which is nearly 50% off the title’s official recommended price, is sure to cause concern amongst the country’s many indie stores as £28 is less than what many can get hold of it for.
The catch, however, is that the game will only be sold for £28 to those who buy a 2100 Microsoft Points Card. Although these normally retail for £18, it’s currently unclear if Tesco will offer them at a promotional price. Previously, Tesco has sold the card for £10.
