Upcoming motion controller Kinect uses "less than one per cent" of the Xbox 360’s CPU according to an employee from Ubisoft.
Rumours circulated that Kinect could use as much as one full CPU to run however Ubisoft’s “Kinect expert” put the rumblings to rest.
Ubi’s Frederic Blais discredited the rumour while speaking to Xbox World 360 Magazine via CVG stating, "That's not true at all. I don't really know how much I can talk about it but it's less than 1% [of the CPU's power], or something like that."
According to Blais the number was so low so “we could apply Kinect to an action game and still put the same kind of action on screen".
He went onto talk about the possibility of using the Kinect camera and a controller in unison for a first-person-shooter and revealed Ubisoft was “thinking about” the possibility.
"I think that technology's really cool when it's faster than a controller, or you do something that you can't do with a controller. These are the rules of Kinect design," he said.
Finally adding, "Think about a hardcore game like Rainbow Six where you're doing hand signs and stuff like that. It would be cool; it would be more immersive. We'll have to see if hardcore gamers will be ready for that."
It’s an impressive feat for the Kinect to only use 1% of the 360’s CPU let’s hope it lives up the hype when it launches later this year, even if it does have an extortionate price.
