Star Trek Online Season 2 Launched

Cryptic has launched Season 2: Ancient Enemies for Star Trek Online.

The additional content will add a host of gameplay options including an increased level cap, new tier five ships and eight brand new episodes.

Ancient Enemies will be a free add-on and to celebrate the new DLC, Star Trek Online will now be available to purchase for a new low-price of $20 USD.

Firstly the level-cap has been increased from 45 to 51 also bringing brand new ranks to unlock within the Federation and Klingon factions.

High-level versions of the Special Task Force missions are now available with Mark XI gear rewards as well as the introduction of tier five ships to utilise.

The eight new episodes will be for the Klingon forces and will predominantly focus the Fek'ihri, the fabled enemy of Kahless, founder of the Klingon Empire.

A special Federation Diplomatic Corps has now been added allowing players to peacefully interact with new citizens, as you progress you will unlock special ranks and rewards to coincide with your new diplomatic state.

Five new weekly episodes will feature from August introducing both factions to the neutral side of the Deferi. Players of any level will be able to aid the Deferi against a new adversary entering Star Trek Online, which Cryptic are keeping quiet about.

Star Trek Online didn’t exactly enthral us but this new add-on as well as the lower price is definitely a step in the right direction for Cryptic.
