EA appears determined to milk the Dead Space series for all its worth, announcing today that a new animated feature and graphic novel are both in the works.
The animated effort is due in January 2011 and will be called Dead Space Aftermath. Plot-wise, it "centers on the Aegis VII disaster and explores how the Government sends an unwitting crew of people to get exposed to Marker shards."
The graphic novel, meanwhile, will be called Dead Space Salvage and should turn up in December of this year. This "tells the story of the Magpies, who discover an abandoned mining ship, the USG Ishimura." But, alas, "Their once-fortunate luck turns into a catastrophe as they realize they’re in the middle of a living nightmare."
EA describes these proposed releases as "brand extensions," which is perhaps the most soulless, corporate phrase it is possible to use about any creative endeavour.
