EA’s Los Angeles studio the team behind upcoming shooter Medal of Honor has been renamed to Danger Close Games.
"For us, rebooting Medal of Honor and taking it out of World War II into the current fight in Afghanistan is a lot like what we've done with the studio," executive producer Greg Goodrich told Gamasutra.
The name was decided when senior creative director Rich Farley was playing the new Medal of Honor and the team heard the shouts of “Danger Close” from one of the main characters.
He added, "It's a refresh. It's an opportunity. It's a way to get our own identity. The deeper meaning of Danger Close is, that, yeah, we got through those times, but we've come out of it. We've got a great game we feel is going to do well."
The Xbox 360 Medal of Honor beta finally launched earlier this week a whole month after the PS3 and PC versions were first released. The beta is offering some of the multiplayer mode on offer in the full game with EA hoping the game will challenge the mighty Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when it launches on 12 October.
Goodrich finally added, "For our team, 'danger close' is about pushing the boundaries and taking chances on telling a story we felt needed to be told. It may be controversial, but we felt it needed to be told, and we're telling it with respect and authenticity, to shine a light on these guys."
