Fans of the Xbox Live quiz 1 vs 100, which was based on the BBC One Saturday night quiz show, will have to get their fill via the TV version as Microsoft has announced the game has been pulled from Xbox Live after two seasons. The game was a good idea, but if you did manage to play it, the pace was not exactly quick-fire.
While the game was running it did manage to achieve an official Guinness world record for the most contestants in a game show which was 114,000. The fact that the record was set during the Beta speaks volumes about how well the game was received.
Commenting on the canning Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios added:
“When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept. We’re very proud of the ‘1 vs 100’ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming.”
The team behind the game say they are now "focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop “1 vs 100” to new projects that will be unveiled in the future".
