For fans interested in buying StarCraft II digitally, they can start the download today.
StarCraft: IncGamers reports that the new version of Battle.net's web interface, inspired a lot by the in-game version, now includes a download link for the StarCraft II game client and can be used immediately.
The little crux is of course that it's a heavily encrypted piece of code, and it can't actually be installed before 27 July, the release date of StarCraft II. We suspect an online verification is included for this.
Another drawback is that if you planned to buy the boxed version, it won't help you to download these files - they are only for buyers of their digital goods.
This is an interesting turnaround for Blizzard, who originally stated they would sell the game digitally, but give retailers a few days head start. It seems Blizzard soon will be able to exist without the middle man all together.
Just head over to the new beta-version of the Battle.net web interface and log in with your Battle.net account. Go to "Services" and Buy StarCraft II Digitally. Remember that this is ONLY if you are planning to buy it digitally, it does you NO GOOD to download it if you are buying the boxed game.
Head over to StarCraft: IncGamers' report for more information on the download and the new nooks and crannies of the Battle.net web interface.
