Tim Schafer has claimed he didn’t mean to call Bobby Kotick a “total prick” in a recent interview describing it as an “accident.”
“I need to keep my mouth shut,” decided Schafer as he talked to Eurogamer at the Develop conference.
It was no doubt that the Double Fine Studio boss had seen today’s reaction from Activision about the incident and decided it was time to set the record straight.
He even joked about the interview stating, “I was going to change the title of my talk to ‘how to give interviews and remember to check the microphone is off.’ ”
“It is shocking how you really burn bridges in the industry. You start your own company and you don’t have to work for that jerky boss any more. Not naming names.
Schafer then compared the whole incident to Star Wars film Empire Strikes back, “you walk in the room and, ‘Holy shit Darth Vader’s at the table.’ It’s such a small industry, you see the same people over and over again. No-one ever goes away.”
Schafer refused talk about the Bobby Kotick incident anymore and wouldn’t explain why he said it. He even admitted, “I’m a little nervous about what I want to say.”
