Rockstar San Diego Suffers Job Cuts

Red Dead Redemption developer Rockstar San Diego has cut 40 employees now that the game has been released.

Studio manager of Rockstar San Diego Steve Martin confirmed to Kotaku there had been cuts at the studio but refused to disclose how many.

"As is typical with game development, our team sizes have always fluctuated over the course of the development cycle,” Martin explained.

He added, “As Rockstar San Diego transitions from the launch of Red Dead Redemption onto future projects, we are realigning our resources in order to continue to develop games as effectively as possible.

Martin finally announced the studio is not considering a sequel to Red Dead Redemption at the current time and is focusing on developing the DLC for the jaw-dropping open-world Wild West adventure.

Rockstar San Diego isn’t the first developer today to confirm layoffs within the team with God of War: Ghost of Sparta developer Ready At Dawn having to release 13 members of the team.
