Our good friends over at Starcraft.IncGamers have noted that Blizzard will be using Real ID for all posts on the new Battle.net forums (due on 27 July.)
Real ID is a new feature in Blizzard's social framework and essentially it will mean that any posts on the new forums will be accompanied by real first and last names.
Blizzard's announcement states: "In the near future, anyone posting or replying to a post on official Blizzard forums will be doing so using their Real ID - that is, their real-life first and last name - with the option to also display the name of their primary in-game character alongside it."
The company clearly feels this will help cut down on spamming and trolling, but the move will surely run the risk of also alienating many good forum users who simply do not wish to compromise their privacy.
