Epic Mickey Takes Inspiration From A Variety Of Games

Epic Mickey creator Warren Spector has revealed Mario, Zelda and Deus Ex have all proved inspiration for the upcoming Disney adventure.

Quest, travel and action maps will make up the different types of levels in Epic Mickey, with NPC’s and partners all acting differently depending on how you succeed in each map.

“I started this project wanting to merge the best of adventure games such as Zelda, platform games such as Mario, and my own games such as Deus Ex,” Spector told VG247.

He went onto explain that throughout the maps Mickey will find sketches, which you can bring to life and use in the world.

He went onto describe them as “like the tools in the Zelda games” however unlike Zelda allowing you to use tools for one specific job you can use the tools in Epic Mickey anywhere.

“If Deus Ex fans don’t give this a chance, shame on them” he said adding “I hope the gameplay and this character will make the game equally appealing to people who’ve never heard of JC Denton”.

Junction Point studio revealed a team of epic proportions is working on Epic Mickey with almost 275 people working on the Wii title.
