Executive Producer Leaves Star Trek Online

Star Trek Online has had its fair chare of criticism since it launched and this evening executive producer Craig Zinkievich announced his departure from Cryptic Studios and Star Trek Online. In his lengthy blog update he states:

"I’ve decided to take a break from Cryptic Studios for a bit and focus on other things, like hanging out with my kids over the summer, walking my goat more and taking care of my bees. Getting to work on Star Trek Online has truly been the highlight of my career. Since I was little, I’ve been a fan of the shows and movies. And since the internet and MMOs became prevalent, I, along with you guys, have watched, hoped and waited to get the chance to explore that universe online."

Cryptic Studios' Daniel Stahl is taking over the executive producer role.

This departure has started alarm bells ringing among the player base, a key position leaving early after game release could be seen as a bad sign. No doubt we'll hear more about the state of the game in the coming weeks and months.
