Diablo 2 Celebrates 10 Years

Hard to believe it's been ten years since Diablo 2 was released.  On June 29 2000, Blizzard's action RPG sequel vastly improved on the already popular first game, but Diablo is never given enough credit for what it did for Blizzard's reputation as a game developer. There always felt there was more emphasis on the projects at Blizzard South, the Warcraft and StarCraft franchises, at the time. Sadly Blizzard North was dissolved and many of the original team moved onto create the excellent Torchlight.

It's a pretty momentous occasion for us here at IncGamers, because Diablo was how it all started for IncGamers when we out together the Internet's first Diablo 'community site' which was run from our tiny server in Edinburgh on our whopping 64K leased line. The IncGamers Diablo channel is still going super-strong today after 14 years, and it's actually run by the same team! Now there's dedication for you!

Anniversary Celebrations are underway on Diablo: IncGamers with the 10th anniversary Diablo Mosaic and Blizzard has also posted a small page to celebrate the decade. Now all we need is the third game to satisfy our Diablo hunger, so get a move on Blizzard.
