CCP the developer of Eve Online has opened a new UK studio in Newcastle.
The plans to open the studio were revealed back in February but the developers has now declared the office is open for business.
"The decision to establish a UK studio was an easy one for CCP," said technical director, Richard Smith.
He said the choice for the North East was an easy one due to the "distinguished heritage of game development" the area has.
Smith went onto say the local universities are producing "exceptional graduates" and that the company hoped to benefit from this.
The Newcastle studio will be working on MMOFPS DUST 514 which is set to tie in with the EVE Online story and world.
