Konami has revealed Hideo Kojima will still work on the Metal Gear Solid series while also announcing the plans for the Rising title to be turned into a separate series.
Shigenobu Matsuyama, the producer of Metal Gear Solid Rising confirmed the news to Shacknews after being asked about where Rising stands in the MGS world.
"I've been asked a lot, 'Is this going to be a side-story or spin-off to the MGS series?', but what I'm positioning is that there will be a Hideo Kojima game that is MGS," he said.
A new Metal Gear Solid 3 will be launched on the Nintendo 3DS but it's not expected this title will be the game which Kojima is working on.
Matsuyama also confirmed that the plan for Metal Gear Solid Rising is for the IP to become a stand alone series.
"What we are planning as Kojima Productions is have this Raiden Rising as almost as a standard so that there's an MGS and the Rising going back-and-forth in the future."
Two lots of Metal Gear Solid for the future? Sounds good to us.
