Essex boy and MD of Split Milk Studios Ltd, Andrew J Smith, landed his company a contract helping to create Crackdown 2 DLC.
The "brand new independent games developer and consultancy based in Essex" was brought in to offer game and level design expertise for the specially named "Premium Downloadable Content" (which somehow is different from regular DLC) for the upcoming Microsoft release of Crackdown 2.
Crackdown 2 developer Ruffian Games worked in conjunction with Split Milk Studios and yesterday's announced BAFTA-winning studio Proper Games team for the additional content.
Smith is of course extatic saying "the opportunity to work with Proper Games on the Crackdown 2 PDLC was fantastic. The team there are so very dedicated and talented, and it was a pleasure to work with them on such an anticipated project. Seeing what we came up with, I can't wait to play it with the fans online – there's some great content coming!"
"Bringing a safe pair of hands on board with Andrew and Spilt Milk was a no-brainer for us on this project," said Paddy Sinclair, CEO at Proper Games. He praised Split Milk saying "the care and love poured into the PDLC shines through and in no small part that is due to Spilt Milk's involvement."
The contract involved on-site contracting, something Smith thinks is an excellent way to do video games. Saying: "More and more we see games development taking cues from the movie industry and the way that creatives – not just developers – can move between projects and companies to spread their knowledge and expertise. This can only be a good thing for games in the future."
Crackdown 2, which went gold the other week, has been previewed by us, and there's new E3 screenshots from earlier this week.
