Company Of Heroes Online Set To Hit North America

Company of Heroes Online will be coming to North America.

Company of HeroesCompany of Heroes Online is a free-to-play multiplayer variant of Relic's truly excellent World War 2 strategy game, and going by a FAQ on the official Company of Heroes website, North Americans will be able to get their hands on it before long.

Players have persistant commanders based around one of six doctrines, with progression unlocking new abilities, Hero units, and troop upgrades. The game uses a micro-transaction model which appears to have been carefully designed to maintain game balance - commander upgrades can be purchased for hard cash, or earned through play, but if the intelligent matchmaking works as planned you're not going to get matched up against people with every possible upgrade.

It's due out in the US and Canada this autumn, with a beta phase coming before then. No word on any European plans, sadly.
