Minimum PC Spec Requirements For APB

APB - All Points BulletinDespite the many and various spec requirements for upcoming MMO, APB, IncGamers can reveal the official spec requirements for the game on its release.

Robert Anderberg, Realtime Worlds' technical lead, categorically stated the PC requirements to run APB smoothly.

"Minimum spec is Core 2 Duo 2GHz, GeForce 7800 GTX with 256 MB RAM, 2 GB RAM and any soundcard..."

Anderberg said the requirements were high because of the physics in the game, and having to support a constantly changing environment. He also said because there was a deep and comprehensive customisation system, more processing power was required.

"The other thing that really taxes peoples systems is the customisation. It's constructing and building customised assets on the fly, writing them out to disc and streaming them in."

So what about those who weren't able to play the game because the minimum spec is too high? Was Realtime Worlds worried that excluding a part of the potential player-base would mean less people on the server?

"Yeah, definitely. Once you make a choice about spec that defines the potential market for the game.

"I suppose we felt that, in order for the customised assets and the customisation in the game to be appealing enough, it had to look really good. So there's some base things you require in terms of graphic card features in able to do that."

We'll have a lot more from APB, in the shape of videos, interviews and a hands-on, and if you've been trying to enter our APB key competition, we're still working on securing more for you, so make sure you check back soon.
