Front Mission Evolved Dated For Europe

Square Enix has dated Front Mission Evolved for a 17 September launch in Europe and other PAL territories.

Front Mission Evolved, developed by Double Helix games in collaboration with Square Enix, changes the Front Mission series from an isometric strategy game into a third-person shooter with players taking direct control over their giant bipedal tank, which is here called a Wanzer (a portmanteau of "Walking Panzer," but it's acceptable to giggle.)

Third-person mech combat, then, with a bit of on-foot action to spice things up, the usual Square Enix attention to detail and cinematics, and a plot involving "a swirl of destruction, conspiracy and crumbling alliances" and a war on terror. We're intrigued, and curious as to how it's going to compare to something like Armored Core.
