Team Fortress 2 Celebrates 119th Milestone

Valve is celebrating Team Fortress 2's 119th update with statues, patch note histories, and medals for veteran players.

If you played the game within the first three months of release, you'll get a gold Grizzled Veteran medal. Those who picked it up between three months and a year of release are awarded the silver Soldier of Fortune medal, while newcomers - which is, admittedly, a relative term - who joined in the fun after a year of release get a bronze Weekend Warrior medal.

Team Fortress 2Other than that, there's a "fun fact" that the game's cache size has grown from 2.45GB during the game's beta on 20 September to a whopping 4.83GB as of yesterday, news of Heavy statues becoming available for pre-order on 3 May, and notes on the latest patch, which follow.

  • Added new items to commemorate our 119th (or so) update
  • Fixed several issues with the Source SDK
  • Scout's "Retire the Runner" achievement updated to be "Kill a Scout while they are under the effect of Crit-a-Cola."
  • Added a 20% damage bonus to The Backburner
  • Fixed the Flare Gun's afterburn duration being lowered by the Flamethrower's duration reduction
  • Fixed the teleporter exit using the wrong particle effect
  • Fixed HUD damage indicators not appearing
  • Fixed Teleporters not reverting to level 1 when their other side is destroyed
  • Fixed receiving damage not causing view-kicks on players
  • Fixed Engineers & Spies being able to circumvent build restrictions
  • Fixed Server Browser not saving filter settings properly
  • Fixed a client crash in the targetID on clients running custom HUDs

Finally, for those of you getting a bit teary-eyed and nostalgic, the Team Fortress 2 site also contains a complete timeline of updates and patchnotes. It's a whopper.
