Reports from users indicate that Dragon Age: Origins has been crashing repeatedly on PlayStation 3 since the console's recent 3.30 firmware update.
Since the 3.30 firmware update, BioWare's Dragon Age PS3 tech support forums have been aflame with tales of repeated crashing.
"Yes every hour im freezing up and usually i can play nonstop all day [sic]," posted one user in the thread, with another adding "Sometimes I get an hour, sometimes half an hour, sometimes five minutes before a freeze."
Fear not, though: BioWare is on the case. According to producer Fernando Melo, the bug is proving a little tricky to track down as the team has had no luck recreating it on the devkit PS3s - meaning that the team is doing this "a little old school," and asking players for details on when and where the crashes occur.
"One of the challenges in track down 3.3 so far is that we have only been able to reproduce this on retail (home version) of PS3s - like all of you - and unfortunately that means we don't get a lot of the additional data that comes with reproducing problems on a devkit, to help us solve an issue quickly," wrote Melo, on the forums.
"We're continuing to work with Sony on trying to resolve why their hardware update would have this effect on DA," he reassured users.
A crying shame, this, as we gave Dragon Age: Origins and its expansion Awakening some of the highest scores in IncGamers history.
There's no word yet on how long a potential fix will take, but we've contacted BioWare for more details and we'll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
If you've been suffering crashes then pop over to the BioWare forums and post up the details the team wants. If not, then spend a bit of time watching our Awakening event video and reading our interview with Fernando Melo.
