Captivate 2010: Okamiden Coming West

Capcom has announced that Okamiden will indeed be coming to western territories.

Okamiden, the DS sequel to critical smash hit Okami, is set a few months after the closure of the first game, with players wearing the paws of young sun god Chibiterasu.

Chibiterasu, the child of original protagonist Amaterasu, has been summoned to protect the land. To that end, the wolf pup will join up with a cast of characters to fend off a threat that's leeching the land of colour, while Chibi and a cast of friends both new and old fulfil their potential and discover the kinship that comes with being the offspring of heroes and gods. Expect a "morally impactful" story with themes of friendship, responsibility, parental love, and more. We're told it might even contain universal truths.

Players will once again have access to the Celestial Brush to help them destroy demons and open up new pathways, this time controlled through pressure-sensitive stylus brushstrokes, as well as a partner system letting you use the unique abilities of other characters to get through the challenges Chibiterasu will face.

Okamiden is due out on the Nintendo DS sometime in 2011. Stay tuned for pics.
