The Associated Press reports that Activision is countersuing former Infinity Ward employees Jason Ward and Vince Zampella.
You may recall our news post about the original suit, filed by West and Zampella against Activision in March for alleged loss of "substantial royalty payments."
Activision, surprisingly enough, have a different view of events. The court document pulls no punches, accusing West and Zampella of being "... insubordinate and self-serving schemers who attempted to hijack Activision's assets for their own personal gain" and suggesting that their actions (which allegedly include the withholding of bonuses from other Infinity Ward workers), "threatened both the future of the Call of Duty franchise and future of Activision's (Infinity Ward) studio."
It further alleges that West and Zampella met with an unnamed rival company, thereby breaching their contract, and claims they deliberately held up development on other Call of Duty games as a leverage tool for more money.
The case was filed in Santa Monica, CA on 8 April. Robert M. Schwartz, West and Zampella's attorney, has rejected the countersuit's allegations as "false and outrageous."
