Why Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening Is Digital Only For PS3

BioWare has explained to IncGamers why Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening will not be getting a boxed PS3 release in Europe.

Speaking to IncGamers, Dragon Age producer Fernando Melo explained that the decision came as a bit of a shock to BioWare, too.

"To be honest with you, I don't know that I have a good answer," Melo told us. "This was a real surprise for us."

Dragon Age: Origins

"Originally, just like in North America, we wanted to do both retail box and a digital version," he continued. "We then heard back from Sony that there's a limitation from their perspective - they don't do both - and basically, ultimately, however that decision came about, we ended up going with a digital version for Europe as sort of the preferred method by the powers that be."

"It's one of those things that I think we could have supported, and it just kind of didn't work out in that case, but it certainly wasn't for lack of want."

We're hoping PAL PS3 users won't be too put out, as - while we're not about to recommend it without a full review - it seems like it'll be well worth the money, regardless of how you get it. North American PS3 users will, however, be able to get it both digitally and in boxed format.
