Ubi's DRM Renders Assassin's Creed II Unplayable For Some

Ubi's forums are ablaze this morning with reports that some PC users cannot play Assassin's Creed II.

The problem appears to lie with the publisher's controversial new DRM system which requires a constant connection to the internet in order to to play the game.

Some users are reporting that it takes up to five minutes to log-in and they are then unable to access their saved games. Angry gamers who obtained their copy of the game legally are understandably incensed.

Assassin's Creed 2“Yep, only a couple of days into this new DRM, and already, PAYING CUSTOMERS ARE UNABLE TO USE THEIR SOFTWARE,” reads one post.

“I know that there is isn't a cracked version of AC2 right now, but there is for SH5 so please take note Ubi, your loyal customers are now unable to play your game whilst those who have obtained it for FREE are perfectly fine.”

An Ubi community manager responded to the complaints with the following post:

“I don't have any clear information on what the issue is since I'm not in the office, but clearly the extended downtime and lengthy login issues are unacceptable, particularly as I've been told these servers are constantly monitored.”

Have you been affected by the downtime? Let us know in the comments section.
