Assassin's Creed II Patch Suggests Softening of DRM

A new patch for the PC version of Assassin's Creed II has been released and suggests that Ubisoft may be relaxing its new DRM system.

Among other fixes, the update will allow users to continue their game from the “exact same point” if their connection drops.

Assassin's Creed 2Ubi's new DRM system has proved controversial due to its condition that gamers must have an always-on  internet connection to play the game.

The changes in patch 1.01:

  • Game can now be continued from the exact same point when connection is restored
  • Added support for ATI Eyefinity technology
  • Fixed minor performance issues related to some multi-core processors
  • Now resets graphics options if a new video card or monitor is detected
  • Fixed some minor issues in Uplay Browser

Earlier this week it was rumoured that Ubi's new DRM had been cracked, a claim which was subsequently refuted by the publisher, which warned pirates will find cracked versions of its games to be incomplete.
