Microsoft has announced it will be closing its LIVE service for the original Xbox on 15 April this year in a "continuing effort to evolve the service".
This also means Halo 2 won't be available to play anymore, but Microsoft won't leave their "loyal" following behind. Microsoft has offered the original Xbox gang "a free, three-three month LIVE Gold membership and 400 Microsoft Points", as well as an invitation to participate in the exclusive Halo: Reach beta.
The Microsoft Points will be added automatically, and you'll have a year to use them. In addition, you'll get an email from Microsoft about the compensation, but we have no idea who's eligible.
Now both Halo 3: ODST and Halo 2 loyalists will be able to access the Reach beta.
So now, all you'll need is a new console...
Shame they're not paying for that, eh?
