World of Warcraft's Cataclysm Stat Change Update

Blizzard has updated World of Warcraft players on some of the changes to stats they can expect to find in the game's next expansion, Cataclysm.

As revealed at the BlizzCon event last year, several stats will disappear from items, such as attack power, spell power and defense. Players will get the effects of these stats through other means, talents being one of them.

World of WarcraftThe extensive changes don't end there either; Existing armour and weapons will be altered to reflect the changes, and the way some stats work will be tweaked. The properties of some gems will switch colours too, hit will probably be changed from yellow to blue. Finally, Reforging, the ability to change some of the stats on gear, will be introduced.

“As a general rule of thumb, you’ll be able to convert one stat to 50% of another stat. While some conversions (like converting Stamina to Strength) won’t be permitted, the goal is to let you customize your gear more.”
