Star Trek Online Offer Removed

General ScreenshotAtari has removed the special offer it had on the purchase of the Star Trek Online standard and collector's editions, sparking off a tumult of angry responses on the official STO site.

The original offer was for $10 USD off the price of the Standard Edition, but the part that got many fans backs up was an additional 60 days of gametime thrown in for free on that and the Collector's Edition. Players who have been supporting the game since it launched last month felt that the deal was unfair on them, and voiced their opinions on the game's forums.

The offer was due to last until tomorrow, but it has since been removed and replaced with one offering a $10 USD reduction in price on the Digital Deluxe Edition until 10 March.

Star Trek OnlineThere also appears to have been some confusion between Atari, who advertising the offer, and Cryptic, the game's developers, with reports that Cryptic customer support reps were claiming no extra gametime was ever part of the deal.

However, Cryptic community rep Phoxe attempted to calm the situation down by assuring players on the official STO site that the offer will indeed by honoured.
