Infinity Ward's CTO Jason West has reportedly left the company amid contentious circumstances.
According to G4, it received a tip from a source "close to" the developer claiming that studio heads West and Vince Zampella met with Activision earlier in the day and did not return to the office. Instead, according to the source, two non-uniformed "bouncers" arrived at the studio and refused to disclose the reason behind their presence.
G4's source said the relationship between IW and its publisher has been "tense" and that the studio staff are "freaked out" and "confused."
A Facebook status update confirmed to be from Jason West later described him as "drinking" and "no longer employed." There is no word on Zampella's employment status at the moment.
An SEC filing made by Activision earlier in the day may offer some insight into the situation at IW,citing an ongoing human resources investigation into "breaches of contract and insubordination by two senior employees at Infinity Ward."
"This matter is expected to involve the departure of key personnel and litigation," it stated.
"At present, the Company does not expect this matter to have a material impact on the Company."
Infinity Ward community man Robert Bowling has understandably been inundated with requests for more info from press and concerned gamers alike but he apparently has "no info."
DoubleFine's Tim Schafer, who had found himself at loggerheads with Activision last year over Brutal Legend commented on the situation on his Twitter page.
"Getting mad at Activision for this kind of thing is like getting mad at an ape for throwing feces [sic]," he wrote.
"It's just how the beast communicates."
We've contacted Activision for more info, stay tuned to IncGamers.
