Ubisoft Reveals Titles With New DRM

UbisoftUbisoft recently caused a stir by announcing its new anti-piracy system which requires online authentication and an always-on Internet connection while a game is being played.

According to Softpedia (via PC Gamer), titles that are being looked at to include the new system are Splinter Cell: Conviction, Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic, Assassin's Creed II, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and the new Ghost Recon title.

Whether all of these titles will feature this new anti-piracy measure is unknown as nothing appears to have been set in stone as yet. The gaming community has not been happy with Ubisoft's decision to make an always-on Internet connection a requirement to play but it looks like it's coming regardless and Ubi obviously feels that it won't  hamper sales.

Piracy has always been a hot topic in the world of PC gaming and this system shows that Ubisoft is attempting to tackle the problem head-on. A spokesperson for the publisher added “It's a huge problem - you know it, I know it, other people know it. It really is a very important issue that all serious companies need to address.”
