Warner Bros Acquires Rocksteady Studios

Warner Bros has announced that it has acquired a majority stake in Rocksteady Studios.

London-based Rocksteady is the developer of Batman: Arkham Asylum and its forthcoming sequel and so seems a good fit for Warner, which claims to be focused on that particular franchise.

Batman: Arkham Asylum"With the successful release of Batman: Arkham Asylum, a franchise that is a key focus for Warner Bros, Rocksteady has proven that they have the expertise to create hit games with mass appeal," said the president of Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, Martin Tremblay. "We are currently working with Rocksteady on the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and look forward to bringing the continuation of the franchise to fans worldwide."

This acquisition is the latest in a string for Warner Bros, which acquired LEGO franchise developer TT Games back in 2007, Snowblind Studios (for the purposes of developing Lord of the Rings games) last year, and the main assets of the sadly-defunct Midway Games.

Batman: Arkham Asylum was one of our favourite games of last year, winning our prestigious Best 360 Action/Adventure award. We can't wait for Arkham Asylum 2.
