The PS3 Aliens vs Predator demo has been replaced with an updated version.
As the first iteration of the demo suffered matchmaking problems, the new version contains fixes for this as well as adding functionality for creating and browsing matches manually.
If you're not sure which version you have, then Sega recommends looking to see if you have options to create and browse games on the main screen. If not, or if you invite someone or someone invites you to a match and you get an "Incompatible version" error message, then chances are you're playing on the old demo.
Rebellion CEO and co-founder Jason Kingsley took the opportunity to explain why the demo is a Deathmatch multiplayer demo, too.
"We chose Deathmatch as the mode for the demo as it's very familiar to all FPS gamers and minimizes restrictions on players while they are getting to grips with the controls of each of the three species," said Kingsley. "We have plenty of new modes in the game and players only have to wait a matter of days before they can play them when the game launches."
Aliens vs Predator launches in Europe on 19 February - that's this coming Friday, if you don't have a calendar handy - and if you're interested in the game, you should have a look at our hands-on preview to see how it's shaping up.
