BioWare has stated that there will be no fix for Mass Effect 2's problematic text on some SDTVs.
Oon the official Mass Effect 2 forums, BioWare's Michael Gamble has responded to posts about some in-game text being too small to read on certain SDTVs by stating that there will not be a fix.
"We understand that on some Standard Definition TVs the smallest text in Mass Effect 2 can be difficult to read," wrote Gamble. "While this was not an intentional result, it was a byproduct of enhancements to the user interface."
"After investigating the potential solutions, we have determined that while this issue does affect a small portion of SDTV owners, we are unable to resolve it for Mass Effect 2 through a title update."
This isn't likely to provoke happy reactions from those users suffering from the problem, but there may be some minor light at the end of the tunnel. "However, we have taken note of this issue and will take it into consideration as we plan future games in the Mass Effect franchise," concluded Gamble.
So, even if this is making your Mass Effect 2 experience less enjoyable - a genuine shame, as we thought it was fantastic - you might not have this problem with Mass Effect 3. We fear a few users might take that as rubbing salt into wounds, though, considering the third game will allow the importing of saves from the second.
