A renowned hacker claims to have finally compromised the PS3.
According to Gizmodo, George Hotz, the man behind the iPhone 2G hack, claims to have gained access to the system memory and processor.
“I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor,” wrote Hotz on his blog.
“In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1. I've also dumped the NAND without removing it or a modchip.”
What does this mean for the PS3? Can Hotz bypass copy protection? Is the PS3’s future blighted by piracy? Can I ask any more questions?
