War Of Legends Live Today

Jagex has announced the launch of War of Legends, its latest browser-based game.

Jagex, best known for free-to-play browser-based sensation Runescape, is publishing the Chinese-developed game in the west.

While this is the first Flash title Jagex has worked with, War of Legends will run in a browser and requires no downloads, much as with Jagex's other titles.

War of LegendsWar of Legends, based on Chinese mythology, sees players pledge their support to either the rather nasty ruling king or the honourable and valiant contender to the throne. Players will build up their cities, harvest resources, launch attacks, and try to dominate the map.

The game runs continuously while offline, meaning that players continue to accumulate resources ready for their next play session. As the game proceeds, quests open up and a story begins to take shape.

The game is free to play, but will support microtransactions, and should launch over on the official site later on today. Check back for our full interview with the team in order to find out how it all came about, how the game works, what role Jagex will have in continued development, and why you should be interested.

For now, we've got screenshots and artwork up. Check them out.
