Ubisoft has told IncGamers that it attributes part of the success of Just Dance to the rise of reality TV dancing shows.
Following on from the news earlier today that Ubisoft's Wii-only Just Dance finally toppled Modern Warfare 2 from the top spot of the UK all formats charts, ending its nine week reign, we got in touch with Ubisoft to see what the feeling was over there and how it happened.
"How are we feeling? Quite simply smiling from ear to ear," a Ubisoft spokesperson told IncGamers.
"We'd attribute part of its success to the popularity of dancing shows on TV right now, something we tied our marketing campaign to with advertising during X Factor," the spokesperson continued. "There were other strong promotional elements involved, but most of all it's a fun and sociable party game that's generated incredible word of mouth."
Just Dance is a rhythm-action title in which players use the Wiimote and Nunchuk to match the movements of an on-screen dancer, with points awarded for performing different moves properly. It was released back in November 2009, where it debuted in the charts at number 100.
