Nintendo has stated that Metroid: Other M is due to come out this year.
In a statement regarding the ceased production of Metroid Prime: Trilogy, in which Nintendo reiterates that the game is still on sale at retailers, Nintendo mentioned that the next Metroid game will be out this year.
"The next highly anticipated offering in the Metroid franchise is Metroid: Other M, which will be available this year," reads the 
statement.
Metroid: Other M was announced at E3 last year. Little was shown, but we do know that Team Ninja is on development duties this time around along with Nintendo SPD Production Group 1, under the collaborative name of Project M.
