Following the rumour towards the end of last year about a Vietnam-based Call of Duty, details are beginning to emerge.
Abstract360.com has gleamed some details (thanks CVG) about the next Treyarch-developed instalment in the series from “reliable sources” who claim the game will be story-focused, concentrating on the experiences of individual soldiers in a platoon.
Treyarch will apparently rely “heavily” on tech introduced by Infinity Ward, in the same way as it did when working on its last COD title, World at War which we were quite fond of.
The Call of Duty series has always used classic war films as inspiration and the rumoured Vietnam Game will follow a similar pattern, taking its cues from films like Platoon, Full Metal Jacket and Apocalypse Now. Let’s hope Treyarch doesn’t get too method and have a Coppola-like breakdown during development.
What do you think about a Vietnam-based COD? Let us know in the comments section below. We quite like the idea, having spent some time in 'Nam - Cheltenham, that is.
