Sony has trademarked the term "Cloudsurf" for use with a variety of appliances.
The trademark itself will apparently cover online services (ranging from game services to distribution of radio and TV shows), video game machines, cameras, mobile phones, and a whole lot more.
With a name like Cloudsurf and a vast amount of previous rumours, speculation has been rife that this is something to do with online storage. Interestingly, though, this makes no mention of cloud computing, as opposed to a trademark Sony filed for PSCloud back in March 2009.
This could, then, have something to do with the constant rumours of a monthly fee for enhanced PlayStation Network functionality, which last cropped up in December. Back then, Sony's chief technology officer mentioned that Sony was looking at a monthly fees in a conversation geared towards the PSP and PS3.
Or it could be something completely different. Either way, we'll let you know when we find out more.
