Several British games developers have been awarded MBEs in the Queen's New Year Honours list.
First on the honours list are Oliver and Paul Collyer of Sports Interactive, which is behind the long-running Championship Manager series. Championship Manager became Football Manager a few years back, though this doesn't appear to have impeded its sales or quality much judging by Football Manager 2010.
CEO of Codemasters Rodney Cousens was up next, with recent Codies titles including the utterly marvellous Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. He's not the first Codemasters man to be honoured, either, with co-founders Richard and David Darling having been appointed CBEs in the Queen's 2008 Birthday Honours.
Finally for our beloved industry is Paul Jackson. Jackson had been on the ELSPA board as early as 1992, established EA UK back in 1993, and most recently bought the rights to the Rail Simulator franchise and created RailSimulator.com.
All four were cited as being honoured for "services to the Computer Games Industry."
