EA has announced that a demo of Army of Two: The 40th Day will hit Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network on 17 December.
Army of Two: The 40th Day is a co-op focused third-person shooter sequel that sees Salem and Rios trying to escape the besieged city of Shanghai as it falls apart around them.
Players have access to a variety of co-op moves and abilities in addition to full weapons customisation, which will hopefully create a more compelling shooter experience than the first game delivered. You'll be able to find out for yourselves how well the team has succeeded when the demo - which supports both online and split-screen play - launches later this week.
"The game has been designed with a focus on co-op gameplay and and it has been our goal to refine this core experience in all aspects of the game," said executive producer Reid Schneider. "The demo will give players the opportunity to experience this evolution and the new co-op moves and tactics available to players at any time in the game."
There will also be some goodies post-Christmas. A PSP demo will go live in North America on 7 January, with the European demo following a week later on 14 January, and those who pre-order the game will get early access to the game's Extraction multiplayer mode - which pits four players against waves of enemies as they travel from point to point - before it goes live a month after launch.
Army of Two is due out on 8 January 2010. Check out the trailer for the demo here, and be sure to check out our interview with creative director Alex Hutchinson over here to see why the team thinks The 40th Day will be superior to the disappointing original.
