UK developer Blitz Games has joined TIGA in condemning the Government’s decision to reject the proposal of tax breaks for UK games developers.
Philip Oliver, CEO of Blitz, spoke to Edge yesterday, echoing the comments of TIGA’s Richard Wilson, stating that the decision will endanger the British games industry.
“We’re extremely disappointed that all the efforts of so many in the industry have fallen on deaf ears, even though for the past year we have had so many verbal reassurances from MPs, ministers and government officials that they recognise the importance of video games as the entertainment medium of the 21st century," he said.
“Currently, the UK’s position is being eroded by the lack of government support. This is incredibly short sighted and we’re losing our position and our talent to other countries whose governments are more forward thinking.”
APB developer Realtime Worlds also took aim at the Government yesterday, with studio manager Colin MacDonald telling Develop that the report is “a massive disappointment.”
