Tony Hawk has defended the latest game in Activision’s skateboarding series, Tony Hawk: RIDE.
Speaking to the Sudbury Star, the skateboarding supremo said he believes much of the criticism of the game to be unfair and unwarranted.
"They were ready to discredit it before they even tried it, and if it didn't play exactly how they imagined it... then they passed it off," he said.
Critics of RIDE have cited the board controller as the main problem with the game, claiming it’s so unresponsive that the game becomes frustrating to play. Many gamers have also criticised the game for being too difficult to control on the Confident difficulty setting and too simplistic on Casual.
"I don't agree with people who say the board's not responsive," he added.
"I think that they're just not giving it a fair shake. And I think a lot of them came into it with an attitude that it's going to suck."
The Robomodo-developed game marks a low-point for the series, achieving a measly average review score of 48 on Metacritic.
