THQ has secured a deal with DreamWorks animations to bring its animated film properties to the gaming world.
The multi-year deal covers a number of dream works titles including the Kung Fu Panda sequel, Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots and The Penguins of Madagascar. The deal builds on the relationship between the two companies, who already have a deal for DreamWorks’ MegaMind.
“The three properties announced today, in addition to MegaMind, underscore our commitment to reinvigorating our portfolio of licensed games for kids and families with top global entertainment brands," said THQ’s Doug Clemmer.
According to GamaSutra, the deal will help bolster THQ as its deal with Pixar is reportedly due to expire next year.
The first game to be developed will be The Penguins of Madagascar which is penciled in for some time after Spring 2010. Two more film-related titles will follow in 2011.
